About Reflect Growth

What is it?

With Reflect Growth it is easier to measure and track your development as a teacher practitioner.  Using, well structured, pre-configured formative assessment practices, Reflect Growth will profile your teaching skill set against, shared and co-created criteria. It will highlight your strengths as well as  make suggestions about where you could make your practice stronger and more effective for your students. In tandem with your colleagues and students,  you can ask the software to look for specific areas of interest or simply conduct a more general observation to get you going.

If you need them, Reflect Growth comes with pre-made templates for observation and feedback.  However, it will be driven by real teachers, co-creating new templates which will always measure, consistently, against the same criteria to enable you to build a clear picture of your skills.

Reflect Growth is an application that taps into areas of global best practice and the latest research on teacher quality.  It is a professional tool for learning and teaching professionals.  It provides all the analytics you will need to profile your practice for performance review, evidencing standards and choosing learning pathways for professional development.

Co-Create and Connect: A note from Selena

Although we are leading this project, we want to encourage others to contribute, collaborate and share their stories and ideas with us. This tool is designed to help solve a real problem that teachers face as we are asked, more and more, to be accountable for gathering our own evidence base of our current practice and using it to inform our choices in professional development. I’m one teacher who has experienced the lesson observation and teacher grading system in the UK over a period of a decade of learning and teaching. Although, i know that this feedback spurred me on to develop my skills as a teacher it was, at time, a very negative and impersonal process which caused a great deal of undue stress. No body was observing consistently or using those observations to help me to develop my skills in a meaningful and constructive manner. A 20 minute visit from a stranger (or if I was lucky a valued colleague) was how I felt my worth as a teacher was judged. We can do so much better than that.

Please consider sharing your stories about observation. Share your concerns, your ideals, your current or past experiences. Let’s work together to join our stories to current research in practice and as teaching profession, lets take charge of the way in which we are accountable for our own learning.
